A beautiful wintery morning greeted eight of us this morning for the monthly Avimor Bird Walk. A couple of inches of snow had fallen during the night and the sun was shining. The white coating of snow brought a sense of peace and tranquilty that was very enjoyable. We observed 11 species total. Most surprising were the enormous quantities of
Dark-eyed Juncos (Oregon race)...they were everywhere frolicking in the snow! A flock
Pine Siskins was also an unexpected treat. We had a few great views of
Ruby-crowned Kinglets, a cooperative
Red-tailed Hawk, and cute
Black-capped Chickadees.
