I just found a nesting Long-eared Owl and what I presume is its mate here at Avimor, the foothills community in which I live! I just saw my first Long-eared Owl on March 24th in the Owyhee's. Isn't that how it always is though? Once you've seen a bird for the first time, you seem several of them thereafter.
This is official Avimor bird #109. I'd say that's pretty darn good for one year of regular observations. I'm sure dozens of more species will be seen here in the coming years.
Congrats on your recent finds. My first Long-eared was this winter when we found 12 in one group - now I have found two pairs nesting.
