Digiscoping with new Swarovski ATX

A couple of Red-tailed Hawks in the Boise Foothills, photographed using my iPhone 4s through the new Swarovski Optik ATX 25-60x85 angled spotting scope. Now, I am a very beginner digiscoper and I plan to start using the awesome adapters Swarovski also has and learn how to do it right, but I'm pretty impressed with what I could do with such an awesome scope and my iPhone. The top picture was taken in about the worst possible conditions. The sun was almost behind the bird. The sky was filled with smoke so thick it made me ill. Still, through the scope I could clearly see the blood on the bill. Plus it was a huge dark morph Red-tail. I was able to show the framing and concrete crews what I was looking at and they were very impressed with the scope as well.

I had another chance to use this new scope at the Avimor Bird Walk. Everyone loved it!
This scope is currently on loan to me from the good folks at Swarovski Optik North America for the purpose of testing it out and sharing my experience. I hope to get a lot of great digiscoped photos to share soon!

  4. Thanks Carole, Laurence and Mitchel. I simply held my iPhone 4S up to the eyepiece for the shots.

  7. It's now December and no updated posts. Have you had a chance to really use the camera adapters? I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences.
