Broad-tailed Hummingbird

Gorgeous gorget!
Broad-tailed Hummer performing the gymnast's iron cross.
Flecks of Emerald
Don't ya just love that magenta throat?
An emerald cap that'd make the munchkins rejoice
You can find Broad-tailed Hummers mostly in the intermountain
west as shown in this eBird sightings map.

  1. Awesome hummingird close-ups! I can see every single individual feather. Yes indeed, gorgeous gorget. I have never had the pleasure of seeing a Broad-tailed hummingbird before. Thank you for sharing your wonderful images!

  3. @Julie G and @Chatterbirds - Thx! I took these photos while at Scout Camp. The feeders were put up by the camp ranger and the hummers were very active. I set my camera up just feet away and practiced with flash and shutter speed, light direction, etc. It was fun. The camera does capture those feather details better then the eye can, even with good binoculars.
