What's For Dinner? Snowy Egret

Steve Creek Outdoors

Last month I began a new series on bird diets (Whats For Dinner?). This month I have added a few photos of a Snowy Egret fishing for its food.

The Egret eats crustaceans, frogs, and small fish, like minnows and shrimp as well as insects. Seventy five percent of their diet consists of fish with the other twenty five percent consisting of crustaceans. That’s why you will find them near marshes, ponds and shorelines. It often will feed in groups and it runs or leaps after its food.
