Rob Fergus Discovers NJ first Mew Gull

Mew Gull, photo by Rob Fergus
BirdingIsFun.com's own Rob Fergus yesterday discovered New Jersey's first Mew Gull. Folks have already nailed it down to the "common" subspecies, a vagrant from Europe if I'm reading it right. Rob blogs about it here and the ABA Blog talks about it here. It seems that New Jersey birders had this bird on the list of overdue birds for the state list. How cool is it to be the first one to find it?! Especially in New Jersey where so many celebrity birders live, work, and play...a state which is home of the World Series of Birding, etc, etc, etc. Congratulations Rob!
