While I was birding...

Variegated Meadowhawk

I love the camouflage!
Cabbage White Butterfly - probably the most abundant butterfly I see
Locust - this locust looks likes its covered with mildew.  In flight, it's wings sport the most amazing color of red which eluded my ability to focus on with the camera.
Meadowhawk - which kind? Western?

  1. Robert your photo's are wonderful, so sharp and clear...that first one is great!!
God must have a sense of humor, because that guy looks like he smiling!!

    Enjoy your weekend!!

  2. What a nice collection of shots of insect life. We never realize how many things we fail to see with every step we take:)

  3. @grammie - I thought it looked like it was smiling too. Hilarious!

@euthymic - Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a nice comment! There is so much beauty in the world, but sometimes we have to slow down to enjoy it.

  4. I'm not surprised to find that you, like so many birders, get distracted by all the other good stuff out there. Looking forward to meeting you in Lakeside!

  5. Those are some nice close-up pics. The cabbage white Bfly - now I know what it's called.

6., Robert! You got wonderful detail on those dragons!

  7. Running into the unexpected is half the fun of birding. Great pictures.

  8. Fantastic nature images! I'm especially fond of the first photograph (GREAT angle and details) but they all are wonderful. There is always something beautiful and interesting to see while birding. A pleasure to visit your blog, as always!
