Great Salt Lake Bird Festival: Keynote Speaker Greg Miller

I just got a press release from the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival. The keynote speaker will be Greg Miller! Greg is known in the birding world for his role as one of the three featured birders in Mark Obmascik's book, The Big Year. The recent movie by the same title has Jack Black portraying a character inspired by Greg.

Greg and I have been chatting by email over the last several months and he shared a little about himself in my Birder Profile segment. I was fortunate to spend some time visiting and birding with him in person at the Midwest Birding Symposium.  I'm so excited to have him here in Utah! His presentation at MBS2011 was fantastic! He entertains with his stories and inspires with his enthusiasm.  You won't want to miss it. You can register for the dinner and his keynote address right now at www.GreatSaltLakeBirdFest.com. You can also follow Greg online at www.GregMillerBirding.com.

Greg and me at Meadowbrook Marsh during the Midwest Birding Symposium. Greg had just helped me see my life Bay-breasted Warbler, along with half a dozen other life birds. Greg is one of the most friendly and fun people to go birding with. Hopefully many of you will get the chance to do some birding with Greg at the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival in May 2012.
