Caramela the California Quail

I finally captured Caramela in a photograph! Yep. I named her Caramela because of her sweet caramel coloring - oh, and you have to say it with a Spanish accent (kah-rah-MAY-la). Female California Quail are usually more of a gray color - kinda like the gray shown on the male's breast in the photo above. Caramela is a bit of a celebrity in our quail-appreciating-neighborhood as she stands out among her peers. May she survive the onslaught of accipters and falcons now roaming the hood picking off all the weaklings.
